Privacy Policy

At GoFish, we recognize the importance of your privacy and we are committed to protecting it.  This Privacy Policy describes how GoFish treats and uses information it collects when you use GoFish services and how we help you protect your privacy.

Because we have special concerns about the privacy of children under the age of 13, please do not use this Website unless you are at least 13 years old. GoFish blocks the registration of users with birthdays less than 13 years ago. The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) provides special protection for children under the age of 13 and their parents. For more information about COPPA or children's privacy, please visit http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/kidzprivacy/index.html.

Personal information

Personally identifiable information is information that can personally identify you, such as your name, your e-mail address and your postal address. Information that may be personal in nature, but cannot identify who you are, is not personally identifiable information. For example, your age and your favorite videos are personal information, but are not personally identifiable information because they cannot be used to identify you.

The Information We Collect and How We Use It

Registration. At the time you register with GoFish, the only personally identifiable information we ask for is your email address. This is so we may communicate with you. None of the other information we request, such as your birthday, gender, country where you live and your zip code, is personally identifiable. During the registration process, you are also asked to create a screen name and password. You should not use any personally identifiable information as your username, as it may be visible to others on the site.

Of course, you can watch videos on GoFish and use parts of the website without registering or having a GoFish account. Certain other activities—like uploading videos, posting comments or flagging videos—require you to register with GoFish. Whether or not you register with GoFish, we may collect information about your use of our site.

Promotions and Communications. We may ask you for information at other times, such as if you enter into a promotion, communicate with us or complete a survey. Depending on the nature of the request, the information we collect at that time may be personally identifiable. We will use it for the purposes of that special event or communication, and we may store it with your other information in order to learn more about what people like about our site and how they use it.

Site Management. In addition, we may collect information through technology to make our site more interesting and useful to you. For example, we gather general statistical information about our Website and visitors, such as IP addresses, browsers, pages viewed, etc. We use this data to track traffic patterns on the site and to learn how people are using our services or to enhance our site based on the usage pattern data we receive. We may also use this information to help diagnose problems with our server and to manage our Website. We may provide this statistical information to third parties, but when we do so we do not provide personally-identifying information about you without your permission.

We may record information about your usage, such as when you use GoFish, the channels, groups, and favorites you subscribe to, the contacts you communicate with, the videos you watch, and the frequency and size of data transfers, as well as information you display or click on in GoFish (including UI elements, settings, and other information). If you are logged in, we may associate that information with your account. Any personal information or video content that you voluntarily disclose online (on discussion boards, in messages and chat areas, within your playback or profile pages, etc.) becomes publicly available and can be collected and used by others.

Delivering Information to You. We may use your information to deliver information to you that, in some cases, is targeted to your interests or geographic location, such as targeted banners, new services and promotions. If you obtain goods or services provided by third party retailers or vendors, retail partners, or service providers linked from GoFish, we may exchange with the vendor personally-identified information about you for purposes of completing your transaction.

We may use your email address to contact you regarding notices and communications relevant to your use of the site. We may use clear GIFs (a.k.a. "Web Beacons") in HTML-based emails sent to our users to track which emails are opened by recipients. We will not send you promotions or announcements unless you give us permission to do so. You can opt out of receiving such contact by so indicating in your registration/ preferences file. We may also use information to resolve disputes, investigate problems, or enforce our Terms of Use. We may disclose or access information whenever we believe in good faith that the law so requires or if we otherwise consider it necessary to do so to maintain service and improve our products and services. When you email a video to someone, we might store the recipient’s email address for our records, although we do not use this email address.

We do not sell, rent or otherwise use personally-identifying information collected during your use of our website without your permission, unless required to do so by law.
